Maryland False Claims Act of 2015 Update

I traveled to Annapolis this week to testify in support of the Maryland False Claims Act of 2015, and I am happy to say that things seem to have gone well.

For the last five years I have been travelling to Annapolis to testify in support of false claims act legislation, and the whole time I have been hearing from Maryland General Assembly insiders that Maryland is an “incrementalist” state when it comes to new legislation.  Prior to this, I had never heard the term “incrementalist” before, but it apparently means that the General Assembly moves step by step, passing a new law piece by piece….

The day started off with a press conference by Attorney General Brian Frosh, Sen. Jamie Raskin, Sen. Hough, and others.  The press conference went well, and I thought General Frosh did a good job of telling the story of the FCA using graphs and images.

And, it is very important to note that we picked up some new sponsors in the House of Delegates to replace otherwise irreplaceable Delegates like Sam Arora, who retired last year.  Among the most impressive new members of the House of Delegates to support the Maryland FCA are Del. Marice Morales and Del. William C. Smith.

So stay tuned readers, hopefully we will have good news soon the Maryland False Claims Act of 2015…
