It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future, and I for one am glad to announce that the Attorney General’s race has indeed ended in a win.
Previously, I had said that this election was so close that we would never know the true result, but that turned out to be only partly true. After Herring’s lead grew by several hundred votes Obenshain conceded defeat and stopped the recount. So, congratulations are in order for state Sen. Mark Herring and his team, or, as I suppose he should now be called “Attorney General-elect Mark Herring.”
I have done a number of posts over the past five years suggesting things that Virginia’s Attorney Generals could do to cement their legacies, including the need for a two-term Attorney General in the Commonwealth. Time will tell if Mark Herring decides to run for a second term as AG or if he decides to throw his hat in the ring for Governor in three years.
